Frosh Day & Orientation 2013

How universities welcome their freshmen sure gives first impressions and huge expectations. How the IT department welcomed their freshmen got them to know the school's mission, vision, and their program objectives. They also get to know their curriculum flow, who their faculty are (plus their competencies), some discipline policies, the organization they can call their own and what's in store for them every single term from academic needs to extra-curricular activities!

The IT department held their "Frosh Day & Orientation" last June 27, 2013 at the JRU Auditorium. There was a morning session which was filled by 5 BSIT sections and 1 BSBA-CSC section. The afternoon session was jam-packed by 6 BSIT sections and 2 BSIT-AGD Major sections.

Dr. Milani M. Austria, Dean of Computer Studies and Engineering delivered the welcome remarks and discussed the mission and vision of the school with little adverts on how JRU started. Ms. Arlene Mae C. Valderama, Chair of the IT Department shared the objectives and competencies of the BSIT program and its curriculum flow. She also introduced the roster of IT faculty stating their bachelor and advanced degrees. Dean Ma. Luisa Z. Saba of the Office of Student Affairs acquainted the freshmen with her office staff, pertinent student services offered, and discipline policies.

The department also introduced the officers of their resident organizations, the JRU Computer Society and the OJT Senior Batch. An informative discussion was also imparted to itemize relevant activities for the academic subjects and how the current students have been doing about their JRU journey. An invited alumnus was also given a part in the program to share how the IT department has molded him and to encourage the freshmen that they too can achieve success by believing in themselves and choosing happiness while earning their degrees. Of course, the program is clenched with entertainment in between which spiced up the hours. Here are short Magisto and Animoto video clips to show glimpses of the program.
